Waterman’s Reef Observation Area
Adjacent to the original Western Australian Marine Research Laboratories, the Waterman’s Reef Observation Area was created in 1969 to ensure a representative collection of marine plants and animals was kept in a condition as close as possible to its original state. Now located within the Marmion Marine Park, only line fishing is permitted from the shore – all other reef life is protected.
The Waterman’s Reef Observation Area is located in the suburb of Waterman’s Bay. It runs from the northern side of Elsie Street to the southern side of Malcolm Street and extends 300 metres seaward of the high-water mark.
